Dittisham Village Voice Oct 29 2010

The congregation in St George’s Church each Sunday may not be huge but there is always great energy and enthusiasm there.  As you know we are without a vicar but last Sunday the two new church wardens, Pip Gooderham and Jenny Sjoberg, decided to give the lay ministers a rest and as it was village worship they took the service themselves.  It was delightfully informal with simple prayers, familiar hymns, a little Elgar from the choir and there being no sermon it was quite short.  Two prospective candidates for the parishes of Dartmouth and Dittisham have been interviewed but it was agreed by the panel that an appointment would not be made at this time.  The post would be advertised again after Christmas. This Sunday there is a United Benefice Service at St Clement’s starting at 11.00am   Tuesday, November 2nd is All Souls and there is requiem for the departed at St Saviour’s starting at 7.00pm.  On a more pagan theme Halloween falls on Sunday this year.  If you have small children who like to dress up as pumpkins or if you are into that sort of thing some families are meeting up outside the Red Lion round about 6.00pm to go trick or treating.  Remember the clocks go back this Sunday.

The National Trust are having a meeting about setting up a  community forum for Greenway on Thursday, November 11th from 7 – 9pm at the Village Institute, Greenway Road, Galmpton.  The NT realise that they have an impact on the lives of local residents

And want to create a forum for people interested or concerned about activities at Greenway.  For further information please contact Carly Mays on 01803 661856 or email her on carly.mays@nationaltrust.org.uk
