- BBC DOCUMENTARY SEEKS CONTRIBUTORS
IS AN ELDERLY RELATIVE OR FRIEND OF YOURS A DANGER BEHIND THE WHEEL?
ARE YOU FACING THE DILEMMA: SHOULD YOU TAKE AWAY THEIR KEYS?
Hello - I am making a documentary for BBC1 exploring the dilemma facing the families of many elderly drivers - are they safe behind the wheel or should you take away their keys?
I’d love to hear from anyone who is currently wrestling with this issue, and who might be interested in participating in our documentary.
For many senior citizens, getting behind the wheel is perhaps the activity that most maintains their sense of independence. But the Department of Transport’s own statistics show that drivers over the age of 80 have more accidents per mile than any other age group.
Would you intervene to prevent an elderly relative, whom you consider to be a danger, from driving?
Whe is the right time to bring up the subject, and how hard is it to confront a relative about it?
Or are you an elderly driver who feels pressurised to stop when you don’t feel it is necessary?
If your family, or someone you know, is dealing with this issue now, we would love to hear from you. Calling wouldn’t commit you to taking part, and anything discussed would be held in strictest confidence. You can email me on keys@matchlight.co.uk or call 0131 225 1711.
Many thanks, Andrew Abbott, Director

- Urgent - We need to contact Mr Peter Ford & Pam Thompson!
My name is Glenn Edwards, and I am a former pupil of Audley Park School in Torquay from 1989. Myself along with Melanie Parker, are organising a school reunion that is this Sat 18th July. We have between 53 and 90 people attending, pupils and teachers, Mr Peter Ford was one of our best teachers, and we urgently need to contact him to invite him to the reunion.
Mr Ford resided in Dittisham in 1989 when we left school, and from a recent May 09 article appears to still live there.
Also need to contact Pam Thompson, a science teacher from Audley Park, who also lived in Dittisham.
If anyone in the village of Dittisham or surrounding area, knows how to contact Mr Peter Ford or Pam Thompson, or can pass this message onto them, please can they call me on 07799 337856, and I can give him the reunion details etc
Many Thanks for your help,

- I am writing a book about local ghosts and other paranormal experiences (the full range - from angels to UFOs), and would be very interested to hear of any current or past events in the area. I am happy to give due credit for any input, or provide anonymity if preferred. I have already heard Dittisham has a witchcraft story involving Temperence Lloyd, but have yet to discover the details, so I'd love to learn more about her. I have also heard there is/was a holy well, and wonder whether it is still in use, or what its special powers are/were. If you think you can help with those queries or with any other stories, please don't delay in contacting me (I am working to a deadline). You can find a little more information about my book (to be published by Richard Webb, Dartmouth, in 2006) at www.wordwrights.co.uk/pub/dartmouth/index.html , which also has information on some of my other publications. Thanks

- Attention Roger Smith I too had Short ancestors from Kingswear and as there was only one family we must be related. The Short family originally came from Totnes I believe and migrated down the river to Dittisham, Dartmouth and Kingswear. I have a website with all the details so please contact me.

- For some time my wife & I (both in our 60s) have been looking to rent long term somewhere near Kingswear, as currently we live in East Sussex, but my dream is to live in or around Kingswear, unfortunately the local agents never have anything available, and we are now desparate to find suitable rented accomodation in the area. On my mothers side we had relatives by the name of Short/Tucker who lived in Kingswear and I have been coming down there for over 50 years so is now more my home than where we live in Sussex. If anyone knows of anyone who might have suitable accomodation (not holiday) to rent please let me know. Thank you for reading this. Roger Smith.

- In going through old papers, I found material related to Dittisham. My late husband's cousin, Willodene Brumbach of Jasper,Alabama,USA had orresponded with "A.H. Wigan, Clare Cottage, Lower Street, Dittisham,Dartmouth,Devon TQ60HY Tel: 325." She gave me copies of the envelope and a photo, knowing I was researching Cranford for my daughters.
Does anyone have any information related to the Cranford family, or M. Wigan? I'd sure sppreciate hearing from you, and thank you in advance for considering this.
I live in Birmingham,Alabama,USA

The South Hams Flying Club holds its annual flyin every June at a field near Halwell and we would like next year to celebrate Liwentaals early attempts at flight near Dittisham. Can anybody help with any info. Also my wifes Aunt and Uncle, Lilian and Bob Beer used to live in Lower Street in Dittisham. They now live inland at Bovey. Does any one remember them? Thanks a lot. - hope someone in the village can help, we knew a couple who used to moor their boat, Cloudy Bay at Bucklers Hard Marina, and have now moved from the New Forest to a house they have bought in Dittisham. They wrote to me earlier this year, and I mislaid their letter, they were renting at Plympton whilst the house was being renovated, so I imagine they have moved in by now, They know we have moved to Kingswear and we would like to make contact again. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
