Hi, I am wondering if anyone can assist me as I am researching my family & many, many of my relations on my maternal grandmother's side hail from Dittisham. I am coming over from Australia at the start of Oct. 2012 & I would like to take my 90yr. old Aunt to visit where they used to live. Thomas Elworthy Blampey 1811-1886 was my great, great, great grandfather as was Peter Skedgel 1806-1867(father of Isaac). So I am also directly related to the Weekes, Farr, & Cranford familiesamongst others. I would be so grateful for any information or addresses where they may have lived or anything relating to Dittisham from long ago. Any emailed photos of these people or of Dittisham from the past would be very welcome. Also is the local church generally kept open to visitors or do we need to make an appointment? Are there any books I can buy about Dittisham as it used to be or the people who lived there & importantly is there somewhere lovely we can have afternoon tea? I am sure we will need to return a couple of times at least as it all looks so attractive it just depends on how well my Aunt can cope. I can't believe my luck to have family who lived in such an attractive place! Thank you in advance to anyone who may have information for us. Please try to save some good weather for us. BBC DOCUMENTARY SEEKS CONTRIBUTORS IS AN ELDERLY RELATIVE OR FRIEND OF YOURS A DANGER BEHIND THE WHEEL? ARE YOU FACING THE DILEMMA: SHOULD YOU TAKE AWAY THEIR KEYS? Hello - I am making a documentary for BBC1 exploring the dilemma facing the families of many elderly drivers - are they safe behind the wheel or should you take away their keys? I’d love to hear from anyone who is currently wrestling with this issue, and who might be interested in participating in our documentary. For many senior citizens, getting behind the wheel is perhaps the activity that most maintains their sense of independence. But the Department of Transport’s own statistics show that drivers over the age of 80 have more accidents per mile than any other age group. Would you intervene to prevent an elderly relative, whom you consider to be a danger, from driving? Whe is the right time to bring up the subject, and how hard is it to confront a relative about it? Or are you an elderly driver who feels pressurised to stop when you don’t feel it is necessary? If your family, or someone you know, is dealing with this issue now, we would love to hear from you. Calling wouldn’t commit you to taking part, and anything discussed would be held in strictest confidence. You can email me on keys@matchlight.co.uk or call 0131 225 1711. Many thanks, Andrew Abbott, Director
