Polar Swim in aid of Blackawton School’s Outdoor Learning Space
There was an extraordinary occurrence at Blackpool Sands last Sunday, January 15. At almost exactly 2.00pm in bright, sparkling sunshine but with temperatures hovering near zero and a fierce, onshore wind twelve intrepid men and women plunged into and , quite quickly, out of the crashing surf to the cheers of about fifty supporters, including babies, toddlers and lots of dogs. What was it all about? Blackawton Primary School is turning half the playing field into an outdoor learning area, a Forest School, which will have an amphitheatre and a straw bale building to be used as a classroom. Polytunnels and raised beds are already in situe. Those amazing swimmers took this challenge to raise and have so far raised about £1000 for this project. If you would like to donate please call the school on 01803 712 363.
